When you open the calendar editor, a dialogue box first appears "please select a design" dialogue box first appears.
This basic design is a model which can be used to fill all your calendar pages. All pages (except the title page) receive the same calendar.
In the editor you can then select another variation of the basic design with more photos or a different background colour (if available) for the respective calendar page.
The calendar itself, however, cannot be edited or modified. That can only be done with the "page layout" if you "create without design" (button bottom right).
You must therefore decide in advance whether you wish to design your calendar with a basic design or with a page layout.
The difference:
With a basic design, a great deal is predefined and your design scope is very limited, but for that reason it is very easy to produce a visually appealing calendar.
With a page layout, you can design your calendar individually, but for that you must invest more work and time.
Therefore, if you wish to design a calendar yourself, click the Create without design" button at the bottom right.
The basic designs are subdivided into two windows (standard calendars and designer calendars) with preview pictures of the calendars.
Double-clicking the preview picture loads the model into the calendar pages in the editor and the dialogue box closes.
These calendar designs are somewhat simpler and can be used without additional costs.
A designer calendar has been designed more by professional design agencies, which naturally entails additional costs.
There is an additional surcharge for a designer calendar. The amount is shown in the heading of the designer calendar.
This design surcharge is payable at the time of order.
Unfortunately there is no wizard for calendar design.
In the production properties of the calendar (bottom left), you can set the year and month in which the calendar will begin. The calendar always comprises 12 months, starting with the set month.
Set the basic colour of your calendar design on the "layout" tab.
There you will also find other design variations with a different layout and number of photos and text fields.
Double-clicking in the calendar editor on the calendar (the table with the days), the year or the month name opens a window with additional calendar settings.
In a selection list you can choose from many predefined colour schemes for the colour design of the backgrounds, lines and texts of the calendar.
In the second position the font is set for all texts and numbers in the calendar sheet.
The third position is the font size.
Due to different font sizes in the individual text elements, the font size is given as a percentage of the original font size (in steps of 10) so that all letters and numbers are resized proportionately.
Please make sure that long weekday names do not extend beyond their cell and overlap other weekdays.
The effects of the changes in the calendar can be tracked in a preview.
The background colour is only an aid for the preview and has no effect on the calendar in the calendar editor.
For example, a white font on a transparent table background can be seen more clearly if the preview background is black.
If the For calendars of the same type option is activated (checked), the settings are incorporated in the calendar editor for all calendar pages (months) which have the same calendar.
The year and month name can also be changed in this way.
If the same settings are used for the calendar, month names and the year, they will fit in well together. But it is fine to use different settings if you like the result.
In the working area of the calendar editor you design your calendar pages and insert photos with the object selection. Create and save your own page layout with layout frames and texts. Or you can use a predefined page layout.
In the calendar settings click on the "Entries" tab to display public holidays.
NB: Public Holidays can not be added to all calendars. Please check whether the public holiday texts run into the next day. If they do, you should reduce the size of the font, choose a more suitable calendar or decide not to display public holidays.
With some calendars, such as kitchen and family calendars, it is possible to insert columns in the calendar.
In the headings of the columns you can then enter the names of your family members, so that each family member has his or her own area for notes and appointments.
The first line of the headings has the heading for the first column, the second has the heading for the second column, and so on.
|
Tip: If you have activated the display of public holidays, enter an extra for the calendar, and leave the first column without a heading. Otherwise, any public holiday text in the first column will take up the space for notes. |
That can only be done for calendars without a basic design.
You can choose a different calendar by means of a new page layout. To do so, click the page layout directory at the top left and select the corresponding page layout, dragging it to a page in the working area.
The page layout can now be edited. Use the new calendar and arrange your photos individually on your page.
|
Tip: Save your new page layouts. This will save time when producing additional calendars or calendar pages. |
In the Editor, under the "page layout" tab, you will find the "Change Basic Design" button.
Click "Please select a design" and choose a different basic design.
|
Attention: When you "change the basic design", you will lose all the previously carried out steps and start again with an empty calendar. |
Depending on the selected format, a calendar can be ordered as digital print or as a calendar on photo paper.
Digital printing is a calendar comprising printed pages. In high-quality digital printing, each individual page is printed and then compiled to make up the calendar.
The calendar with photo paper consists of individually exposed photographs. The photo paper is a glossy paper which reproduces your photos brilliantly.
Click the "save as" button in the object toolbar.
A dialogue box will open and you specify the save location and file name for your calendar.
Inserted photos can be edited using the PHOTO SHOW. To do so, with the left mouse button double-click the photo to be edited. The photo show opens and the various editing tools are available.
